Host of the Finding Happy Podcast, Sinead Quinn and Author of Special, Melanie Dimmett, take over the show today for our Guest Hosted episode this month! They discuss the dynamics of grief, how vulnerability plays a part in the early stages of parenting, and how they continue to find motivation in their ongoing advocacy efforts.

ABOUT SINÉAD

Sinead Quinn is a mom to these 3, wife to a supportive husband. Her eldest son, Torryn, is 12 years old and has Down Syndrome, her daughter is 10 years old born at 28 weeks gestation and their third is 8 years old.

Soon after becoming a mother of 3, she found myself lost and suffering Post Natal Depression. She was also walking around in a fog of undiagnosed autoimmune disease, until eventually she found answers and her feet.

With no more brain fog, she also discovered my passion - to lift the shame and raise awareness of the importance of mental and physical wellbeing for my community of mothers of disabled children.

ABOUT MELANIE

Melanie Dimmitt is a freelance arts, lifestyle and business journalist living in Sydney. She’s written for titles such as The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, Collective Hub magazine, Mama Disrupt magazine, Mindful Parenting magazine, Mamamia and Broadsheet, and has created content for Canva and Smack Bang Designs.

Her debut book, Special: antidotes to the obsessions that come with a child’s disability, is published by Ventura Press.
